Lois Duncan's Obituary
Mrs. Lois Kathryn Duncan, age 93, of Huntersville, North Carolina, devoted Christian wife, mother, aunt, and friend, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025.
Lois was born in Mishawaka, Indiana and after her birth mother's death, Lois was adopted at age 11, along with one of her brothers Bill, to Charles & Effie Knappen of South Bend, Indiana.
Through Lois’s parents, the Knappens, she met the love of her life, Myron Duncan and married in 1953. They built a life together with Myron as a union ironworker working for Lois’s parents in Knappen Construction Company, while Lois worked as a secretary in the family business.
Lois and Myron opened Myron’s Carryout in the early 60s that served fried chicken and their famous Myron’s Potato Salad.
In the 1970s, looking for a better life, both Lois and Myron moved to Anchorage, Alaska as Myron worked on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. While Myron was working on the North Slope of Alaska, Lois took a job with the State of Alaska Job Service WIN program which provided aid to families with dependent children and job placement.
After retirement, Lois and Myron traveled in their motorhome in Alaska and across the United States following the Thousand Trails RV Resort campground system.
In 1994, wanting to settle in a warmer climate and be near family, they chose Huntersville, NC to build their family dream home that was big enough to always be open for family and friends.
Mrs. Lois K. Duncan, widowed from Myron in 2014, is survived by her children, Debra Swanson (Ralph) and grandchildren Ryan Doyle (great-grandchildren Emitt and Everett), Tyler Doyle (Kat) & Kiley Doyle.
