Lucas Gabriel Toney's Obituary
Lucas Gabriel Toney was born into Heaven on August 11, 2022 at Novant Health Huntersville Hospital. He was carried by his mother, Crystal Toney, for only a short twenty-one weeks, but his sweet life left an everlasting imprint on all those around him. Lucas spent only moments in his mother, Crystal, and father, Anthony's arms, but he will remain in their hearts forever.
The joy felt by Lucas' parents when they first found out just after Easter that they were having another baby, is immeasurable. They were already in love with this precious soul that was just beginning to grow in his mommy's tummy. The first ultrasound performed in May, confirmed their hopes had become a beautiful reality.
Lucas' big brothers, Blake and Hoyt Toney, were so excited on June 10, 2022 when their parents first told them the news of their baby sibling and again on July 8, 2022 when they found out their new sibling was going to be a boy, a little baby brother. They showered their mommy's belly with multiple kisses and snuggles, even talking to baby Lucas, as they anxiously awaited the arrival of their new brother, who was due to make his appearance on December 15, 2022. They were so excited to tell everyone around them the news, announcing to anyone they crossed paths with along their daily journeys.
On July 22, 2022 Lucas' parents were blessed to see his sweet face and body happily moving around during the nineteen week ultrasound. Everything checked out perfectly, the doctors exclaimed, and the sound of his beautiful heartbeat was heard. Sadly however, only two weeks later that most wonderful sound would not be heard, at his twenty-one week routine check up. This was the most gut wrenching heartbreaking news his parent's could ever have received, the loss of their child, no matter how small, his sweet soul was so dearly loved.
For Blake and Hoyt, the news of their little baby brother being born into heaven was of course devastating to these sweet boys. However, they found comfort in knowing that precious Lucas is safe in God's loving arms and that one day they too will both get to see their baby brother in Heaven.
Lucas was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cecil and Sandra Toney, and by his maternal grandmother, Saundra Blythe.
He is survived by his two brothers, Blake (6) and Hoyt (4); his maternal grandfather, Joe Bailes Blythe of Huntersville, who loved him so dearly already; uncle on Anthony's side, Jason Toney; aunts and uncles on Crystal's side, Paula Blythe, Paul and Lori Blythe, and Scott McCracken; and many loving cousins, relatives, and friends who already loved Lucas so much.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday August 20, 2022 at Gilead ARP Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gilead ARP Church, 15303 Beatties Ford Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078.
Lucas is and always will be deeply loved by his family, missed but never forgotten.
