Lucia Rectra Encinareal's Obituary
Lucia Rectra Encinareal, 82, of Queens, New York City, NY, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020 at Mt. Sinai Queens Hospital.
Lucy is survived by her five children, six grandchildren, eight siblings, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents and oldest sibling.
Lucy was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was generous, thoughtful, and charitable. She led many fund-raising efforts to benefit health and calamity victims. She helped many family members achieve their educational and life goals by providing financial, moral, or spiritual support. She always put everyone else’s needs and happiness before her own.
Lucy graduated valedictorian in high school, was a full scholar and Cum Laude in college, and earned her Master of Arts in Nursing. After her retirement, she became a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant.
She was a respected administrator at NYC Health and Hospital Corporation, but mostly, she was a beloved registered nurse who provided care to all her patients and to sick people outside of work.
Lucy loved classical music, reading, gardening, New York Yankees, and most of all, her corgi! As for her love of gardening, she said that she inherited it from her father, a Geodetic Engineer. She showered her grandchildren with love and attention, she enjoyed catching up with her college classmates, her friends for over 60 years, and she stayed informed about political and global issues.
