Lucy Catherine Murray's Obituary
Lucy Catherine Murray, age 89 of Cornelius N.C. passed away peacefully , March 6th, 2011 in the loving presence of her family. Born July 2, 1921 in Staten Island, N.Y. , she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Helen Lorretta Curry Fischer. She was the devoted wife of the late Francis Michael Murray and loving mother to 8 children, 18 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Before moving to N.C. to live with her daughter and her family, she resided in Harford County Md. For 35 years. She was an active member of St. Marks Catholic church, spent time volunteering for AMC Cancer Research Center Foundation and pursuing her creative talents in interior design, painting and photography. She had many friends and happy memories there.
Mrs. Murray leaves behind to cherish her memory sons, Richard A. Murray and his wife Patricia, of Chesapeake VA, Timothy J. Murray and wife Pamela, of Essex MD and Michael F. Murray and wife Lisa of Edgewood MD; daughters, Nancy L Kenny and husband Michael of Branchburg, NJ, Marianne Burns and husband Michael of Fair Haven, NJ and Susan H Hankins and husband Steve of Cornelius N.C. She was predeceased by her sons William M Murray and Thomas F Murray as well as her brothers, William and Norman Fischer.
Visitation will be held at McComas Funeral Home, Abingdon, MD on Friday, March 11th, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A mass and Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Abingdon , MD on Saturday, March 12th,2011. Rev. Charles M Wible will officiate and interment will be at Mt Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Bel Air. Memory tributes may be sent to the family at mccomasfuneralhome.com.
The family is sincerely thankful for the compassion shown to Lucy during her long illness by Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman, 705 Griffith St. Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036. We would encourage those who desire to make a contribution in tribute to her.
