Pastor Luke Delano Lang Jr. 's Obituary
Pastor Luke Delano Lang, Jr., age 53, of Denver, NC, came face to face with his lifelong friend and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. He was the son of Delano and Marilyn Lang of Owasso, OK.
Luke devoted his entire life to loving God, loving people, and living out loud. His journey began at age 10 in a wooden tabernacle at Camp Whispering Oaks, Buffalo Gap, TX, where he found his calling. He would go on to attend or work summer church camp for the next 43 years.
Luke was a member of Grace Covenant Church where he served as their Minister for Middle School children for 9 years. He graduated from LIFE Bible College East in Christiansburg, VA where he found and married his best friend and the queen of his pirate heart, Diana, on May 24, 1991. They celebrated the birth of their daughter, Delanie, in 1993. He later catapulted to euphoria upon becoming Big Papi to the Moonpie, Henley Jade, on April 20, 2017.
In addition to his mother, Luke is survived by his loving wife and helpmate of 27 years, Diana, their daughter and his self-proclaimed greatest work of art, Delanie, and her husband Jordan Daugherty, granddaughter Henley, all of Charlotte; brother Mark Lang and his wife MaryAnn of Lubbock, TX, sister Hope Lang of Tulsa, OK, niece Madison Lang and nephew Noah Lang of Lubbock, TX, and his father-in-law, Jack Mortimer, of Keokuk, IA. He also has a large extended family who will miss him dearly.
Memorial services will be held on April 24, 2019 at Grace Covenant Church, Cornelius, NC. The family will welcome friends and pirate shipmates from 3:00 until 4:15 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made and designated to the Middle School Camp Scholarship Fund at Grace Covenant Church, 17301 Statesville Rd, Cornelius, NC, 28031.
