Marco Sametini's Obituary
Marco Sametini, 73 of Charlotte passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020.
Marco was born in Indonesia but has lived in Charlotte since 1977. He served in the Navy for 4 years.
Marco spent most of his career selling gourmet meat and seafood throughout the Carolinas. Most recently he worked as a driver for CLT Express. It was not unusual to run into Marco at the airport at one of his pick-ups or transfers. He really enjoyed all the interesting people he met over the last several years driving a town car or limousine. His biggest accomplishment was raising his children, none of which were his biological children. He was a great father.
Marco loved watching a good boxing match and Westerns. The Platters music blaring on the weekends was not unusual, and if you were willing to listen, he always had a joke to share.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Willie Sametini, his mother, Louise Hempling and his brother, Piero Sametini.
Marco is survived by his wife Charlene Sametini of 42 years and his children; Scott Schuster (Indian Trail, NC), Kim Blythe (Charlotte, NC), Cheri Contes (Wolverhampton, England), Corina Hagen (Maryland), grandchildren; Scott, Shelby, Hannah, Evan, Tyler, Grant and Chase; brothers Gino Sametini (Fairhope, AL), Carlo Sametini (Gatlinburg, TN), step brother, Randall Hempling (Redding, CA) and sister Gina Hobika (New York) and nieces Jennifer, Lisa and Anna.
A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
