Margaret Garrison Kirk's Obituary
Margaret Garrison Kirk of Charlotte, passed away February 14, 2023 at her home. She was born on October 5, 1934 to James and Madeline Garrison. Margaret, to all that knew her, was a caring lady who touched so many lives.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Harry Suther Kirk. They were married 67 years and raised 4 children. She was totally dedicated to her children in all aspects of their life.
Margaret was a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School where she played basketball and drove a school bus. She sang in the choir at Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church. Their choir went to Mallard Creek Church where she met Harry who was singing in the choir. It was love at first sight! Margaret and Harry worked together at the Mecklenburg Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance. They enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Europe. They also loved going to their home in N. Myrtle Beach, where they enjoyed landscaping their beautiful yard with flowers. She was a member of Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church. She loved going to church each Sunday and started play school with her sister. Margaret and Harry loved being a part of the Swinging Mallards Square Dancing Club for many years.
Survivors include their children, Harry Kirk, Jr. (Lisa), Monie Alexander (Harvey), Susan Saviano (Dave), Sharon Benfield (Craven); grandchildren, John Harvey Alexander (Jenny), Jason Alexander, Morgan Dube (Arthur), Andrew Alexander (Stacey), Cayce Kirk, Brittany Ashworth (Heath), Taylor Jones, Kevin Kirk (Brittany), Austin Alexander (Aurianna), Nathan Benfield (Jordan) and great-grandchildren, Amber Alexander, AJ Alexander, Kylie Alexander, Oliver Alexander, Wren Alexander, Hattie Alexander, Simon Alexander, Jaxson Dube, Wyatt Benfield and Behr Alexander.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Charlotte or the Alzheimers Foundation.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 17 at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 10-11 prior in the sanctuary.
