Margaret (Kitty) Crane's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that the family of Margaret “Kitty” Howie Crane announces her passing on January 15, 2025, at the age of 86. Kitty was born on December 29, 1938, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Whitson Steven Howie and Mary Ruth “Ruby” Davis Howie. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Ronald L. Crane, and her dear sister, Faye Howie Setzer.
Kitty was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose caring heart and nurturing spirit touched everyone she met. She was known for her warm smile, her steadfast love for her family, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved in her presence.
She leaves behind three devoted daughters: Diane Martin (late husband Kenneth Martin), Terri Aycock (husband Sam Aycock), and Sandra “Sandy” Carrigan (husband Craig Carrigan). Kitty’s memory will also live on through her six cherished grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Nana", and her seven great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Kitty is survived by her brother, Whitson “Steve” Howie (wife Carol), and her sister, Judy Howie Tucker (late husband Robert “Gary” Tucker).
A funeral service will be held at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr., Huntersville, NC on Sunday, January 19th 2025 – with visitation beginning at 1:00pm and service at 2:00. Interment will follow at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 19920 Bethel Church Rd, Cornelius, NC 28031. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Tillery Compassionate Care, 960 N 1st St, Albemarle, NC 28001.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support, love, and prayers during this time. Kitty’s family is comforted by the knowledge that her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire and guide them in the years to come.
