Margaret Tucker's Obituary
Margaret Ann Thornburg Tucker of Charlotte peacefully went to be with the Lord January 3rd, 2017. She was the daughter of Polie C. and Nellie Cloninger Thornburg, born November 28th 1927. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, all of whom she loved as her own children. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sisters Alma and Louise, adult sisters Gladys Clemmer, Faye Murphy, Inez Neal, Phyllis Ramsey and one brother Everett Thornburg. Her late husband John Mason Tucker (Jack) and she shared over 58 happy years together before his passing in 2008. They always had an abundant garden that provided a bounty year round to many. Margaret and Jack loved to travel, especially to the Outer Banks for fishing trips and to the mountains to take in the sights. She even travelled overseas on a trip to Germany. Margaret was a very giving woman with a very generous heart and was a fierce friend. Many considered her their second mother, spending nights and weekends at their home on Sam Wilson Road. Legendary for her cooking, her green thumb, her spotless home and her hard working spirt, she was never too busy to sit and talk, to share a laugh and a cup of coffee and maybe a piece of chocolate pound cake. Margaret will be greatly missed by the many who loved her.
Services will be Friday, January 6th at Moore’s Chapel UMC with visitation starting at 2:00, service at 3:00 with Rev. Holly Evensen officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Donations can be made to Moore’s Chapel UMC, 10601 Moores Chapel Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214. James Funeral Home in Huntersville is handling arrangements.
