Margie Lewis Huffstetler Faires' Obituary
Margie Huffstetler Faires, 89, of Huntersville died November 21, 2022 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House. Margie was born on November 3, 1933 in Gaston County to the late Mary Bryson & George Cleveland Huffstetler.
Margie retired from Kmart Corporation. Earlier in her life she was homemaker and seamstress. She devoted her many years to caring for her family, especially her husband Maurice while he was in a nursing facility. She only missed one day caring for him in fourteen months. Margie was well known for her “Sunday Lunches”. Anyone and everyone were welcomed at her table. Her specialties included her famous fried chicken, banana pudding, and coconut cake.
When the grandchildren would get stains on their clothes, they would say “this needs to go to the laundry lizard (wizard)”. She was also known in the family as the Lego queen. Margie would spend hours building Legos with Adam when he was young.
Margie and her daughter Elaine took many adventures together and enjoyed playing endless rummy card games. Margie enjoyed traveling and taking day trips to the mountains & beach. Margie was able to enjoy family vacations with her entire family to the beach. She loved watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren playing at the beach. Margie was a faithful follower of Christ. She read her bible and devotional daily.
Margie loved her daughters but absolutely loved and adored her grandchildren Emily, Megan, and Adam. She never missed a band or dance competition, sports event, or a school event.
She was very proud of the adults they have become and would tell you about them any chance she could. As the great grandchildren arrived, she loved and adored them as well. She loved reading with the great grands.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, her daughter Mary Elaine, her parents,
sisters, Nell Crouse & Janie Rankin and brother Lytle Huffstetler.
