Maria Rose Schild's Obituary
Maria Rose Schild, 58, of Huntersville died August 7, 2023 at Novant Hospital Huntersville. She was born on February 24, 1965 in Evansville, Indiana to Rose Polster and the late Wilbert Polster.
Maria was a graduate of Indiana University. She was proud of her family roots in Indiana and always enjoyed sharing funny farm stories. Maria and family moved to Huntersville nearly 20 years ago where they quickly became part of the community with numerous friends. She enjoyed spending time on Lake Norman with friends and family. She also loved the Carolina beaches.
Maria was a big college sports fan – in particular basketball, football and all things gymnastics. She loved the SEC and Big 10, most notably, the Georgia Bulldogs and Indiana Hoosiers.
She was an excellent cook and an adventurous eater with a sophisticated palette for international food.
She was selfless and always put others first. She deeply loved her husband, Dave, and her daughter, Emily, was her pride and joy. She volunteered at various schools, St. Mark's Catholic Church and Everest Gymnastics.
Maria was a person of great personal strength and faith. Having coped with challenging health matters since she was a child, it would have been easy to complain and be of poor spirit, but she was anything but. She was a positive person with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to laugh, tell a good story and cheer on her daughter in her endeavors, in particular the many years of competitive gymnastics.
The family would like to thank the many physicians that cared for Maria during her journey. The family would also like to ask her many friends and family to consider the option of becoming an organ donor in hopes that other lives could be enriched, just as Maria did for so many.
Survivors include her husband, David Schild; daughter, Emily Schild; siblings, David Polster and Jon Polster (Alison); mother Rose Polster and a large extended family, including numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society and National Kidney Foundation.
