Marion Floyd Thompson's Obituary
Marion F. Thompson "Chip", age 63, of Huntersville, NC died peacefully on March 19, 2014.
Chip was born May 13, 1950 in Greenville, South Carolina the first child of Marion Floyd and Dorothy Thompson (deceased). He was raised in Greenville and later moved to North Carolina, where he started his career in the Foodservice Industry. In 1984 he moved to Charlotte where he became a partner with Sharin' Foodservice and met his wife of 28 years, Sabra. Chip was currently employed by Chandler Foods as Regional Sales Manager and planned to finish his career with them. Chip was know for his love of Golf, Football (Gamecocks), NASCAR, Beach trips and his family. When Liz, Jim and Ashley were young he coached Basketball, Soccer and was an active volunteer for Birkdale Swim Team (where he donated and grilled for many swim meets) .
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Sabra Wilkinson Thompson and children Sabra Elizabeth "Liz", James Marion, Ashley Shannon. Sister Elizabeth "Beth" Carroll (Roland) and nephews Spencer, Andrew and Mack Carroll. He is also survived by Father in Law James B Wilkinson (Nancy) of Cashiers, NC. Mother in Law Sabra Diann Wilkinson of Hilton Head Island, SC, sister in law Shannon M. Wilkinson of NYC; and many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate his life will be held March 28, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. Mt Zion United Methodist Church , Cornelius , NC. Following the service the family will greet friends in the Family Life Center until 4:30 PM.
Memorials can be made to Mt. Zion Memorial Fund or American Cancer Society. Burial will be private at a later date.
