Mark Mahoney's Obituary
Mark Mahoney, loving husband, devoted father, and endearing friend entered eternal life on Monday, September 17, 2018, ending his courageous battle with renal cancer. His spirit is carried on by his wife, Laquetta of almost 35 years, son Matthew & his wife, Danielle; daughter, Meghan; parents, Frank and Joyce Mahoney; sisters, Caren Mahoney, Laurel Beyer & Family, and brother; Paul Mahoney and family. He was preceded in death by brother, Stephen Patrick Mahoney. Plus, Mark positively affected an extended group of family and friends from every walk of life.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Mark during his 58 years, among them; always have compassion for others, place others needs before your own, always build people up, and speak well of everyone you meet. These biblical qualities echoed in Matthew 22: 36-40: “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment." The second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.” These are a model and testimony to how Mark lived his life every day in companionship and concern for all he encountered.
Mark was a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta with a degree in Actuarial Science. He spent a very successful Sales & Marketing career in the insurance industry which took their family on to build friendships in Jackson, MS, Folsom, CA , Huntersville, NC and Carolina Beach, NC.
Of all the successes Mark enjoyed in his lifetime, the greatest among them was being the loving husband to Laquetta and devoted father to Matthew and Meghan. He also found joy in traveling, living at the beach and thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and encouraging others through his positive attitude.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in Mark’s memory at 3:00 pm, on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Lake Norman, YMCA Pavillion, 21300 Davidson, Street, Cornelius, North Carolina.
