Marla Westmoreland's Obituary
Mrs. Marla Greene Westmoreland, 72, of Huntersville, NC, passed on to be with the Lord in heaven from her home on June 24, 2025. Praise God for her life and blessings thereof.
A lifelong resident of Mecklenburg County, she was born in Charlotte on April 16, 1953, to Marshall Hunter Greene and Arline Abernethy Greene. She attended Derita Elementary, Ranson Junior High and North Mecklenburg High Schools, where she met her husband-to-be. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She worked in the legal industry, primarily as a court reporter for 25 years, founding and operating a still-thriving business. Her claim to fame in her family, however, was her cooking, a lifelong hobby. She was an avid reader, loved the beach, and mixing the two brought her the greatest delight.
Marla’s family was the joy of her life, cherishing her time with her granddaughters especially. She is survived and missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Thomas McCord “Mack” Westmoreland, Jr.; son, Michael Thomas Westmoreland, and daughter-in-law, Andrea Peabody Westmoreland; granddaughters, Madalyne and Ava Belle; son, Bradley Hunter Westmoreland; brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Greene, and his wife, Barbara Greene; and sister-in-law, Dolores Greene (Buddy). Marla was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Arline Greene; her son, Steven Mark Westmoreland; and brother, Marshall “Buddy” Greene.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Cornelius, NC. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church or the National Kidney Foundation.
