Marvin Bass' Obituary
Marvin Douglas Bass of Huntersville passed away on October 29, 2016. He was born to Lillie Flow and James Alfred Bass in Charlotte on September 13, 1934, and graduated from the Charlotte Technical High School. In 1956, Marvin graduated from Carson Newman College (now University) in Jefferson City, TN, with a BA in sociology. Also, he received a Master of Religious Education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Marvin served in the US Army during the Cold War in Ft. Mead, MD, and in Germany.
He worked with the Juvenile Court and the Employment Security Commission in Charlotte, in personnel at the Naval Ordinance Plant in Macon, GA, and Ft. Jackson. He retired from the IRS in Greensboro where he was a Personnel Staffing Specialist for 30 years. He moved to Huntersville in 2003, where he became an active member of the Tech High Lunch Bunch.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Delois Hamrick Bass and his daughter Emory Bass and by his brother Wayne Bass of Charlotte and his wife Mary and sister-in-law, Linda Bass.
Memorials may be made to the Tech High Lunch Bunch Scholarship or the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, Huntersville.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 Tuesday, November 1 at First Baptist Church in Huntersville with Rev. Stacy Nowell officiating. Visitation will be 1-2 PM prior in the sanctuary. Burial will follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens.
