Mary Frances McCall's Obituary
Mary Frances Howell McCall, 85, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2023. She was born February 1, 1938, in New Baden, Texas to the late James Lowder Howell and Stella Pauline James Howell.
Mary Frances was known for her fiery spirit and iron will. She mounted a courageous battle against Alzheimer's disease. Certainly, if determination could have won the day, her enemy would have been defeated long ago.
Mary Frances was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and the Covenant Sunday School Class. She greatly enjoyed playing the piano for the Covenant class members. In fact, music was her passion. She studied music while in high school and college at Pfeiffer University. Over many years, she played the organ in two churches in her hometown of Norwood, NC. Members of both congregations often spoke of how well she played the organ and how much they enjoyed her music. Their love of her playing gave her a great deal of satisfaction and encouraged her to hone her musical skills.
Mary Frances served twenty-five years as a deputy in the estates division, Office of Clerk of Superior Court, Mecklenburg County. She thoroughly enjoyed her work in county government and was very proud of her accomplishments in this position. She often commented on the satisfaction she received from meeting new people and helping them navigate the sometimes-complex nature of settling an estate.
In addition to her parents, Mary Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dale McCall; and son, Jim McCall. She is survived by another son, Kenneth Dale McCall, Jr. (Dale); brother, Marshall Howell; sister-in-law, Brenda Howell; daughter-in-law, Erran McCall Dellinger; and grandson, Parker McCall. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
