Mary Teresa Boyle O’Neill, 101, died May 22, 2023.
Mary was born December 10, 1921, in Scotland, to the late Hugh and Bridget Browne Boyle Hanlon. Her family immigrated to Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, when she was a young child. It was in Wilkes Barre where Mary met her future husband, John O’Neill.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, Andrew Hanlon, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, John Ward O’Neill; brother James Boyle (Margaret); and brother Hugh Boyle; sons-in-law Larry Weader, Vince Gallo, Don Christensen, and Patrick Gallagher.
She is survived by her daughter, Deirdre O’Neill Cooper and her husband, Patrick, Huntersville, North Carolina; daughter Maura O’Neill Weader, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; daughter Patricia O’Neill Gallo, Carmel, New York; daughter, Nuala O’Neill, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; sister, Bridget Hanlon McEnamny; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A mass to celebrate Mary’s life will be held June 9, 2023, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Mountain Top, Pennsylvania.
