Mary Lou Pavick's Obituary
Mary Lou Pavick, 89, of Summerville, SC, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025. She was born July 17, 1935 in Somerville, AL to the late James Alvin and Ruby Ann (Stidger) Lawrence.
Mary was known as Mlou to her friends, Granny Lou or Mee Maw to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She graduated from North Charleston High School in 1953. She loved her job as a Legal Claims Examiner with the US Navy (civilian) where she worked for over 30 years. And she loved her family deeply. As a baby, she contracted polio which severely affected her legs and her ability to walk. Rather than considering herself disabled, she was fiercely determined to break barriers. When someone suggested she couldn't do something, her response was, "Watch me!"
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Pavick, her sisters Louise Bishop, Bonnie Groff, and Judy Byrd, her brother Jack Lawrence, and her granddaughter, Kathryn Anderson. She is survived by her sons James Anderson, Jr (Jeanie) and Kenneth Anderson (Delores); grandchildren, Danae Merrick (Mark), Melody Anderson, Erin Summers (Justin), and Kenneth Anderson, Jr (Elizabeth); great-grand children, Mo Ogren, Hugo Summers, Edmund Merrick, Emmet Summers, Scarlett Herman, Anslee Anderson, Phillip Merrick, Jackson Herman, and Miles Anderson and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, niblings, and “adopted grandchildren”.
A gathering to celebrate Mary's life will be held On Thursday June 5, 2025, 11:30 AM graveside at Dorchester Memory Gardens and a reception to follow at Knightsville Tea Room in Summerville.
