Mary Juanita Thomas' Obituary
Juanita Thomas passed away peacefully on May 16, 2020. She was born on July 19, 1933 to the late Alvin Harvey Cochran and Caddie Belle Pitts Cochran.
She trusted Christ as her Savior in her youth and felt that God wanted her to give her life in service to Him. Her life verse was I Thessalonians 5:24-“ Faithful is He who called you who also will do it.“
Juanita enrolled in Columbia International University where she met the love of her life, Eulice Thomas. They married after graduation and went as missionaries to Jamaica, West Indies and served and taught at Jamaica Bible College for 10 years. Three of their four children were born there.
Upon their return to the U.S., she and her husband served in various PCA (Presbyterian Church in America) congregations in South Carolina and North Carolina until retirement.
Juanita loved teaching young children. She returned to school to pursue a Masters in Early Childhood from the University of South Carolina. She taught various grades but loved second grade the best.
The hallmark of her life was faithfulness to God and commitment to the Truth of His Word. She passed on that legacy of faith to her children, Doug Thomas (deceased), Susan Smith (Buzz) of Oak Island, NC, Valerie Price (Dean) of Leesville, SC and Nathan Thomas of Charlotte. She had seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Psalm 61:5- “You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name. “
