Saying Goodbye to Matthew
Matthew Carnes Bailey, age 21, died in his sleep quite unexpectedly on February 1, 2023.
He is survived by his parents, Michael Allan Bailey and Sarah Dickinson Bailey, brother Noah Michael Bailey; grandparents Elizabeth Q. Dickinson and Gerald C. Bailey; aunts and uncles Jane A Dickinson, Andrew W. Dickinson, Mark W. Bailey, Barbara F. Bailey, Vivian Marie Buckley; and cousins Isabel Hernandez, Joseph Bailey, Thomas Bailey, Annalie Bailey, and Ryan Buckley.
Matthew had the sweetest of souls, a compassionate heart, an intuitive mind, a quick wit and was fiercely loyal to those closest to him. Despite a 10-year history battling Lyme Disease, co-infections of Lyme (bartonella and babesia), multiple auto-immune disorders, PTSD from multiple traumatic events, and an inability to attend school or work due to debilitating illnesses, and yet, despite all of that, he was able to seek joy and momentary happiness with a close circle of friends (Deven, Bryson, Luke, Joseph & Jeffrey) through Xbox and online gaming. He had a love for learning, painting, and was just beginning to sharpen his skills with wood working. His life was full of more pain than most people experience in an average lifetime, and yet, he was always there to support and encourage those closest to him.
Wisdom beyond his young 21 years of life and is deeply missed.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the home he shared with his mom on Saturday, February 18th, 2023 from 2 – 5pm EST, 8433 Bramfield Dr, Huntersville, NC, including a brief service at 3 pm and an opportunity for all to share funny stories, memorable moments, and bits of wisdom as we all move forward without our beloved Matthew.
