Maurice VanHecke's Obituary
Maurice Spenser VanHecke, 16, of Davidson, died August 31, 2012. He was born on January 5, 1996 in Mecklenburg County to Michael Spenser VanHecke and Evelyn Kinney VanHecke. He was a junior at Hough High School. He played Nothing But Net basketball. He loved weightlifting, water and snow sports, playing the guitar and exotic sports cars. He won multiple band awards, including “Bari Sax Hero.” Maurice was very active at Davidson United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters Kinney Williamson VanHecke and Faye Maclin VanHecke, both of Davidson; grandparents, Bill and Imogene Kinney of Charlotte and M.S. and Faye VanHecke of Waxhaw. He loved his uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Davidson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 718 Davidson, NC 28036 to assist teens in crisis and the prevention of bullying.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr., Huntersville, NC 28078.
A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 Wednesday at Davidson United Methodist Church with Rev. Jody Seymour officiating. Burial will be private at Mimosa Cemetery.
