Maxine James Davis, 92, of Huntersville died February 11, 2025 at her home. She was born on September 4, 1932 in South Carolina to the late Andrew Jackson James and Ida Aline Holcomb James. She worked as a troubleshooter for U.P.S Read Obituary
Fond memories of those summer Sunday afternoons on the Earnhardt's Lake Norman pier with the Davis /Earnhardt/ McGraw Families. I am thankful to have worked with Maxine at UPS. A great mentor. Rest in peace.
This is a note from William McAuley III (sometimes known as Bleu), son of Scottie Cochrane, Maxine's niece. I will always remember Maxine as quick to smile and laugh. Lighting up a room with a gentle and ever welcoming presence that made you feel at home. Our times at the lake with extended family stand out in my mind as idyllic childhood memories. Everyone basking in bathing suits, kids running wild, and Maxine pleasantly overseeing the flock. Many years ago I was poking around at her sister Dorothy (Grandot)'s house and found several 8mm film reels, which I found out were shot on a camera bought by Maxine's husband Oran during his service in the Korean War. I subsequently screened those films for Scottie and her other niece Nancy-Kay, and recorded their recollections of the many Davis and Cochrane family events captured by Oran from the 50s through the early 80s. You can always see Maxine smiling and laughing (even on very early Christmas mornings with the blinding camera lights!). It's a wonderful window into her life that I will always treasure. This is from Scottie Cochrane, and her husband Louis Middleman, both of whom loved being in the glow of Aunt Maxine. Sitting on her sofa, surrounded by nearby family, Maxine smiled a smile that lit up the whole room and probably rooms beyond even her house. She never let difficulties get her down, and we are grateful that if she had to go now, her passing was as gentle as she was.
