She was born in Charlotte on September 15, 1942, the daughter of the late Doc and Emma Poplin Foster. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Marvin R. Wynn; and her siblings, Smiley Foster and Jimmy Hildreth.

She was an avid dancer, especially known for her love of shag dancing, and rarely missed an opportunity to enjoy music and time on the dance floor.
She was also a devoted fan of NASCAR and cheered faithfully for the Carolina Panthers. One of her favorite traditions was gathering with friends for her Wednesday evening wine nights, which brought her much laughter and companionship over the years.
