Melanie Nicole Smith's Obituary
Melanie Nicole Smith, 30, of Mooresville, died September 5, 2023, after a very brave battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for over two years. She was born on May 28, 1993, in Charlotte, NC to Denise and John Smith.
Melanie had many interests including cosmetology and hair design, creative crafts, lake living, and the beach. Since she couldn’t work outside the home, due to her illness, she crafted many creative pieces she sold over the internet. She spent hours designing on her iPad. She always made sure her hair and makeup were perfect before she left the house, even if it was for her chemotherapy treatments. She never complained during or after treatments. She kept her chin up and persevered through. Her whole life she loved water sports, lake living, and trips to the sandy beaches. She loved all things pink and anything with a sparkle. She was an animal lover. This was evidenced by the many pets she often “showed up” with coming home. Melanie always had a kind and loving heart. The most important person in her life was her daughter. She absolutely cherished spending time with her, doing her hair, and creating various arts and crafts projects together. Madelyn is her greatest and brightest legacy.
Survivors include her father, John; mother, Denise Scott; stepmother, Patty Smith; stepfather, David Scott; loving brother, Justin Smith; step siblings, Mike Wunsch (wife Sarah and child Ophelia Wunsch), Megan Wunsch, Josh Scott (wife Kortney), Matt Scott (wife Shannah), and her glorious angel of a daughter, Madelyn, and son, Bentley. Also, surviving is her 100-year-old paternal grandmother, Louise Smith; Uncle George and Aunt Susan Smith and their daughter, Lauren Smith. Also, surviving her Aunt Marianne Smith and Uncle Jimmy Smith. She is predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Clara Kelly.
Melanie…Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
