Melissa Middelthon's Obituary
Melissa Middelthon, fondly known as Chipper, was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend who radiated joy and happiness with her perpetual upbeat personality. Born November 3, 1976 in Maryland, Melissa was a multi-faceted woman whose talents touched the lives of so many individuals. On March 17, 2025 Melissa was called home to God’s loving embrace at the age of 48, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness, as well as an abundance of treasured memories. Her degree in Nursing showed her compassionate nature as later in life she started her own business, “Inspired Parents and Families”. This work was important to her on a personal level as she helped families navigate the intricacies of everyday life. Melissa was an interior designer, as well as a tech wizard, who developed the websites for the family-owned companies, Total Office Group, P3Pickleball and P3Cares.
Perhaps what she had the most passion for was music. Melissa was an immensely talented musician and singer whose skills earned her the respect and admiration of members of her choir at Davidson United Methodist Church, where she was an active member. She was often sought after to sing at events throughout the state and was considered an unbridled talent.
By far, Melissa considered her most cherished accomplishments in life to be her two sons, Johan III and Erik. She loved them unconditionally and was immensely proud of both of them. She instilled in them her love of music and singing where, they too, participate in the choir and bells at Davidson United Methodist Church.
Melissa is survived by her sons, Johan G. Middelthon, III and Erik Middelthon; her parents, William Mark Hummer, Jr. and Susan Horsman Hummer; and her sister, Amanda Skovan and husband Russell.
Melissa’s celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Davidson United Methodist Church’s main sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Davidson UMC Music Fund (P.O. Box 718 Davidson, NC 28036).
James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family. Obituary lovingly written by the family.
