Michael Douglas McKee's Obituary
Michael Douglas McKee, 59, formerly of Frederick, MD, died on Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Charlotte, NC. Mike was born in Logan County, WV, and was the son of the late Aubrey Douglas McKee and Shirley Dials Sias of Oceana, WV.
Mike graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, WV in 1981. He had a tremendous work ethic and was a district manager for K-Mart for 25 years. Later in life, Mike found success as a realtor. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Marshall University, West Virginia University and Redskins football. Mike loved vacationing at the beach and listening to blues music. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Frederick, MD.
In addition to his mother, Shirley, Mike is survived by his daughter, Kate McKee Culbreth and her husband, Matthew of Charlotte, NC; his son, Benjamin D. McKee and his wife, Alanna of Washington, DC; stepmother, Jane G. McKee of Huntington, WV; stepbrother, Nelson Chipman and his wife Karin, of Pittsburgh, PA; and special friend Marilynn Anderson of Frederick, MD.
The family would like to especially thank Cheryl Trammell of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Charlotte Region, as well as Suzanne Mason and the caregivers at The Laurels in Highland Creek for the love, laughter and special care given to Mike over the last several months.
A Service of Celebration will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.
