Thank you for allowing the Metro School staff to join in the celebration of Michael's life today. Michael was an awesome young man and we share many fond memories of his unique personality, such as: the Prom Parades at school, he always helped pushed his classmates in wheelchairs throughout the hallway parade route (posted May 22, 2016); he enjoyed participating in off campus CBI trips like the one Mr. Eddie's class took to Morrison YMCA to learn about adult fitness (posted February 5, 2016); and who can forget Michael meeting Cam Newton the day Cam visited Metro School -- Cam Newton Foundations winner (posted February 4, 2015)!!! These moments were captured and posted on our school's Facebook page (@CMSMetroSchool). Michael will forever have a special place in our hearts. Thank you for giving us the privilege of knowing, loving and educating Michael.

I had the honor of being Michael's teacher assistant for the last two years at Metro school. Often, he would sneak over to my desk and share our favorite peppermint candy together, laugh at silly jokes, or watch Mr. Eddie wear a sombrero and dance around the classroom with a broken ukele. His laughter was infectious, his smile was potent, and he inspired me everyday. When I left Metro in June to venture into a new career, I knew saying goodbye to Michael would be hard and I contemplated leaving each day. However, when the last day of school came, Michael smiled sweetly and said "love ya, aww," like he had so many times before and I knew he meant it. He made my heart smile and me appreciate life, love, and happiness a whole lot more.

From behalf of myself and Michael's classroom staff, Marjorie and Eddie, thank you for allowing and trusting us to know him and teach him. He will forever have a special place in our hearts and we offer our deepest condolences and love to his family and those who knew and loved him best.
