Michael Mullis' Obituary
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Michael Caldwell Mullis, 78, shares that he passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022, following his courageous battle with cancer.
On Saturday, December 3, 2022, visitation will be held at 1 pm followed by a service at 2 pm at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.
A native of Charlotte, Mike Mullis was born on August 28, 1944, the son of the late Arthur Faison Mullis and the late Annie Jane Harrington Mullis. He graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1963 where he was known for his amazing athletic abilities. He was a member of the Charlotte-based team that won the 1960 North Carolina Babe Ruth League State Championship. After high school he played semi-professional football, competitive league softball, and was an avid golfer. He was involved in various businesses in Charlotte, including those in the roofing industry.
Survivors include Michelle Mullis Hale of Charlotte, the daughter of Mike and his first wife, Jeannie Brown Mullis, who also survives Mike. Mike and Jeanie had two other children, Kevin and Jamie, both of whom predeceased Mike. Mike is survived by one grandson, Michael Hale of Charlotte; a sister, Frances Dross of Lake Norman; and two brothers, Harry and Roger Mullis, both of Charlotte. Two other brothers, Ronald and Jim Mullis of Charlotte, predeceased Mike. Mike’s beloved second wife, Shirley Shaw Mullis of Charlotte, passed away in 2020. His recent cherished companion, Juliana Flowe of Charlotte, also survives him.
