Mildred C. Alexander's Obituary
Mildred C. Alexander, 94, of Davidson, born, August 11, 1917, passed away peacefully Tuesday night April 10, 2012 at The Pines in Davidson.
Preceded in death by husband James Alexander, Sr.; mother, Nancy E. Cashion, father Jason Cashion, sister, Johnyse Kyles, brothers William W. Cashion and Hugh D. Cashion and granddaughter Brenda Alexander Brown.
Having joined Davidson United Methodist Church in 1947, she was the longest active member. She served on various boards, choir, ladies auxiliary, and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Davidson Garden Club, the Athenaeum Book Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. In her earlier years, she worked for Johnston Grocery and helped keep books for Alexander Trucking. In 1978 Davidson College awarded her the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award for good citizenship.
Family members surviving her include son James Alexander, Jr. and wife Ruby of Davidson; granddaughter, Mildred Anne Alexander Veleke and husband Brian; great-granddaughter, Brittney Ballard; nephews, William Cashion and wife Sandra and their family from Mooresville, Hugh Cashion and wife Mary Jo and Family of Wendell, NC; brother-in-law, Eugene Alexander and family; sister-in-law, Lois Alexander Bell and family of Due West, SC; Robert Howard and family, Lib Howard Shinn, Martha Morgan and cousins.

The family would like to thank many supportive friends and relatives, as well as Dr. Beamon and the healthcare staff at The Pines.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Davidson United Methodist Church with Rev. Jody Seymour officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow at Mimosa Cemetery.
