Mildred Garrison's Obituary
Heaven gained another angel as it welcomed our precious Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Aunt, and Friend. Mildred Woodruff Garrison (Millie) passed away on July 30, 2015 at Autumn Care Rehab Center in Cornelius, NC.
Millie was born on December 4, 1927 in the Panama Canal Zone to Harry and Mary Woodruff. She spent many of her childhood years in Charleston, SC before returning to Panama where she graduated from Balboa High. Armed with her love of travel and adventure, Millie returned to the States where she completed her nursing degree at Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC. Throughout the years, she remained close with many of her high school and nursing school classmates.
Millie’s nursing career included a short stint in California where she met her husband, Herb. They returned to his hometown of Charlotte where Millie spent many years working at Mercy Hospital. She moved on to serve as a school nurse at Sacred Heart College and UNCC before retiring.
Millie was a devout Catholic whose life was enriched by the churches she belonged to throughout her life including Our Lady of Assumption in Charlotte, and St. Therese and St. Mark in the Lake Norman area.
Millie was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband of 56 years, Herbert G. Garrison, Jr. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Phillip, Irene, Elsie and Marion. Millie is survived by her children and their families, Herb and Lynne Garrison and their children, Logan and Bethany; Bunny and Fred Brown and their children, Jacob (Lisa) and Erin; Theresa and Joe Pereira and their children, Stephanie (David) and Kristen (Lucas), Rusty and Inge Garrison and their children, Kelsey and Connor. Millie is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, Estelle, Luke, William, Hope, Brynn, Cole, and Nolan.
Millie was a much-loved Aunt to several nieces and nephews and their children who grew to become dear friends throughout the years. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Elsie Woodruff, and many friends, old and new.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville, NC at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 7, 2015. The family will receive friends at St. Mark 45 minutes prior to the mass. Interment will be private.
