Mildred Louise Whiteside's Obituary
Mildred Louise Whiteside, 96, of Huntersville, died on Thursday, August 12, 2021. She was born in Etowah, North Carolina to the late William and Daisy Whiteside.
She attended Brevard College and began her career as a buyer for Belk Department stores. She retired from Union Carbide and owned and operated two children's clothing stores. She was a longtime member of Huntersville Presybterian Church. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, and needlework. She loved working in the garden, cooking, and traveling with her late husband.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband John; son, Arnold; and five siblings, Agnes Gash, Preston Whiteside, Wayne Whiteside, Gordon Whiteside, and Roger Whiteside
Mildred is survived by her brother, Furman Whiteside; several nieces and nephews including her special "boys" Gary, Garland, Kenneth, Jeffrey, and Dennis Whiteside; and her good friend and neighbor, Arlene Reese.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to both White Oak Manor of Shelby and Hospice of Cleveland County for taking such good care of Mildred over the past two years.
The graveside service will be held on Friday, August 20, 10:00 AM at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC.
