Morton Lazarus' Obituary
Morton S. Lazarus, 95, of Cornelius died May 3, 2024. He was born 1929 in Stamford, CT. Graduated from Stamford High School and the University of Connecticut with a degree in Electrical Engineering, drafted by the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served from 1951-1953 with an Honorable Discharge. He worked in the industrial electronic field, heading companies as CEO.
He retired in 1982 and moved to Hilton Head, SC with his wife Ann. In 1994 they moved to Seabrook Island outside Charleston, SC. In 2003, Mr. Lazarus and his wife moved to Hendersonville, NC.
During his 15 years in Hendersonville, Mr. Lazarus volunteered frequently. He served on the Board of the Flat Rock Playhouse, the Henderson County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, the Dispute Settlement Center, the Zoning Board of Appeals, and as Chairman of the Board for the Henderson County Library. In 2018, Mr. and Mrs. Lazarus moved to Cornelius, NC.
He is survived by Ann his wife of over 72 years, their two children Kim Wolensky and Greg Lazarus, two grandchildren Rachael Wolensky and Jesse Lazarus, and one great grandson, Jackson Asher Greenberg.
Mr. Lazarus has chosen to be cremated and buried at the Salisbury National Military Cemetery.
