Murray McConnell's Obituary
Calvin Murray McConnell, 88, of Mooresville died August 26, 2016 at his home. He was born on April 10, 1928 in Mecklenburg County to the late Flake and Grace McConnell. Murray was a lifelong member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder and member of the Hub Knox Sunday School Class. He was a Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post 86. Murray graduated from Gupton Jones Mortuary School and founded Almond-Raymer-McConnell Funeral Home in Huntersville.
Survivors include his wife Peggy, son Stephen McConnell of Mooresville; daughters, Dianne McConnell (Richard Gillespie) of Pfafftown, NC and Debbie Edwards (Dana) of Mt. Ulla, NC; brother Lawton Nesbit (Dottie) of Morehead City and grandchildren, Brandon, Connor and Anna Edwards.
The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, August 28 at Bethel Presbyterian Church with Rev. Vern Dodd officiating. Visitation will follow in the sanctuary. Burial will be private in the church cemetery prior to the service.
