Myron Ingram's Obituary
Our beloved Myron Alice Ingram, 93, passed away November 5, 2024. Her selfless love and generosity touched countless lives, and her unwavering devotion to God, and to her family and friends was the hallmark of her extraordinary life. All who knew her loved her. She will be sorely missed.
Myron was born on June 26, 1931, in Blacksburg, South Carolina, to Mack and Isabell Martin. She was the youngest of eight children. In 1986, she married Michael K. Ingram and moved to Huntersville, North Carolina. There the couple built a house and joined the Huntersville ARP Church. An active member for decades, Myron served in many ways, including as secretary of the Women’s Circle group.
Myron was married in 1948, to Edward Porter, a U.S. Army soldier. The couple had four daughters and lived a peripatetic life, moving across the country, and to France. No matter where the army led, she created a warm, loving home for her children.
Myron went back to college in her forties and majored in dental hygiene. She enjoyed her profession and worked for twenty years in two Charlotte dental practices. She was talented in so many ways: she could sing, paint, garden, and decorate. Her beautiful, sparkling clean home reflected the high standard she maintained. She had the gift of hospitality, and her home was a place everyone, and especially her grandchildren loved to visit.
Myron is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her first husband Edward Porter. She is survived by her husband Michael K. Ingram, along with her daughters Jeannie Saunders, (Michael), Sheri Major, Debra Grubbs (Raymond), and Penny Gooch (Kenneth); 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. From a large extended family, she is survived by many, including her beloved niece Sudie Franklin of Sharpsville, Indiana.
A graveside celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Huntersville ARP Church Cemetery, located at 200 N. Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Givens Highland Farms Employee Appreciation Fund, 200 Tabernacle Road, Black Mountain, N.C. 28711. (Make checks payable to “HFRC”).
