Several cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws are also left to cherish warm memories of Mike's positive influence in their lives. He was preceded in death by his parents and a beloved brother, Fred.
The most altruistic, gentle soul, his spirit lives on through every act of kindness and his memory inspires us to all do good for the world. He leaves a legacy of love, achievement, and benevolence that will forever be remembered and cherished by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey. Many friends have described Mike as 'the definition of a true gentleman'.
Born in Stockton, California in 1944, Mike was the son of Dottie and Myron (Mike) Page Jr. Bright, adventurous, and curious, Mike excelled in all his endeavors. From an early age, he displayed a remarkable passion for rowing, which would shape his life in profound ways and was a testament to his incredible hard work and talent. Mike's dedication and aptitude led him towards becoming an essential member of the Cal Berkeley Crew team, where his extraordinary skills helped push them to victory, winning the IRA national championship in 1964. In recognition of his exceptional achievements, Mike and his fellow teammates were inducted into the Cal Berkeley Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019, forever etching his name into the records of collegiate rowing.
Following his remarkable collegiate career, Mike was called to serve his country and joined the United States Army. Rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he completed his urology residency during his service from 1972 to 1979.
Driven by a desire to heal and make a difference in people's lives, Mike pursued a career in medicine. He attended the University of Missouri Columbia Medical School, where he honed his skills and acquired the knowledge necessary to become an exceptional Urologist. Establishing himself in the Tidewater area of Virginia, he dedicated his life to his patients, offering them unparalleled care, empathy, and expertise. Mike's passion for his work was matched only by his genuine compassion for those in his care, leaving a lasting impact on the lives he touched. He retired in 2010. Throughout retirement, he continued to do good for those surrounding him, and passionately believed that the purpose of life was to constantly make the world a better place. Those who knew Mike unequivocally believe he did exactly this. Until his final moments, he was always putting other people first, thinking about his family, and touching people’s hearts through his everlasting kindness and generosity.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mike found immense joy and fulfillment in his role as a father. He embraced the responsibilities and joys of parenthood with unwavering love and devotion. From his first marriage to Fay Babcock Page, he was gifted two sons he absolutely adored, Trevor and Raleigh. He established his family on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, where his sons grew up sharing Mike’s love for life on the Bay. He continued rowing, and enjoyed sailing and spending time on the water, his happy place. As a father, he instilled in his sons the values of goodness, kindness, and the pursuit of their dreams. Trevor, now married to Vickie, carries on Mike's legacy with their two children, Kirin and Malia. Raleigh, too, continues to honor his father's teachings, raising his own two children, Jordan and Jazmyn. Both Trevor and Raleigh live in California and raise their children the same way Mike raised them; with unconditional love, unwavering support, and unrelenting encouragement.
In 1994, Mike found love again and married Maria Vitale. Mike was an amazing husband to Mia, always treating her as a true gentleman treats a lady, and loving her endlessly. Together, they traveled the world and blended their families into a harmonious unit. Mike became a beloved stepfather to Mia's children, Travis and Katie Cherry. Travis, along with his wife Laura, and their children Owen and Emma, fondly remember the love and guidance Mike provided throughout their lives. They treasure the time they spent with him living along Lake Norman in North Carolina. Katie, now married to Bill Kessinger, and their child Everett, also hold dear the memories of a man who not only embraced them as his own but also inspired them to be their best selves. They are currently residing in Northern Virginia and continue to carry on his memory and live by the words he left.
Mike's legacy extends beyond his accomplishments and his family. He will forever be remembered for his loving nature, his genuine care for others, and his steadfast support for those he loved. Whether it was encouraging his children to do good and follow their dreams or offering a helping hand to those in need, Mike exemplified the qualities of a truly remarkable human being.
In the wake of Mike Page III's passing, the world has lost a remarkable individual. His memory will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, let us find solace in the impact he made on our lives and strive to honor his legacy by spreading the same love, compassion, and dedication that defined his remarkable existence. His family feels comfort in knowing that whenever they strive to do good for the world, he will be right there with them.
In the final years of his life, Mia’s compassionate care and endless devotion ensured Mike was comfortable, cared for, and loved. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his family and loved ones find consolation in the beautiful memories they shared with him. No amount of words could describe how truly wonderful Mike Page was. To know him was to love him, and those who loved him will miss him greatly.
