Myrtle Looper's Obituary
Myrtle (Myra) Brown Looper, 87, of Huntersville, entered her heavenly home on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 PM. She was passed peacefully with family at her side and her favorite hymns playing in the background. She was born in Charlotte on May 11, 1934 to Fred, Sr. and Hattie Brown, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Judy Brown McGinn and her husband Billy G. Looper.
She was a true homemaker, constantly tied to home supporting Looper Oil Company as the phone answerer, secretary, billing department and co-owner. She was the best cook and was known for her coconut cake, country-style steak, cabbage rolls, and biscuits. Myra was always making goodies for the holidays. She loved to share her baked goods with friends, especially her fruitcake.
Myra and Bill spent many years traveling across the US with their travel buddies, “The Traveling Tarhills”, an RV Club. They especially loved their trip to the Holy Land in 1976. Myra and Bill were very involved at Grace Covenant Church, where they were members for over 40 years.
She is survived by her children Pam Looper Salyers (Bill), Mark T. Looper (Gretchen) and Sheri Looper Ivey (Wayne), her grandchildren, Lindsay Gibson (Jeremy), Lauren Bergman (Chris), Abbie Nordmark (Erik), Jessica Curtis (Joseph), and Jenna Johnson (Jonathan), and 13 great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed many wonderful trips to the beach with friends, Peggy, Juanita, and Ozelle, as well as Broadway shows, and shopping together.
The family would like to thank her caregivers for their love and support-Claire Mullikan, Janet Gaio, Debra Johnson and Shelia Bogar. A special thanks to the wonderful hospice nurses at Carolina Caring, especially Anita.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658 or Grace Covenant Church, 17301 Statesville Rd., Cornelius, NC 28031.
