Nancy Brown's Obituary
Nancy Harwell Brown entered the gates of Heaven on May 15, 2020. After a recent cancer diagnosis she succumbed to complications. She was born at her grandmother's home in Long Creek to Rolandus and Edna Harwell on July 30, 1936.
Nancy is a graduate of North Mecklenburg Highschool Class of 1954. While attending North Meck in 1951 she met her sweetheart Don in the school hallway and their love story began. After Don returned from the Korean War they married in 1955 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. On April 9, 2020 they celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.
As a faithful Christian, Nancy read her Bible daily and practiced the word of Gospel sharing kindness and love for others. An active member of Circle #3 and Young at Heart at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Former member at Pleasant Grove United Methodist and Williams Memorial Church, Nancy remained closely connected in Christian Fellowship with both congregations.
Nancy retired after 20 years with Charlotte Mecklenburg school. Sharing a few years with her daughter Cindy, who taught at Hornets Nest Elementary. Nancy cherished her relationships with parents, teachers, and students.
Nancy was a supportive member of the Korean War Association Auxiliary (KWBAA).
Nancy was known for her laughter, decorating, gardening, and famous coconut cake at church fish fries and barbecues.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband and children. Gerald (Denise), Jeff (Donna), Cindy (Tony), and Eric (Karen). Their nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and proceeded in death by infant son, Scott.
Funeral services are to be held on Saturday, May 23rd at 2 p.m. at James Funeral Home. Receiving friends will begin at 1 p.m. at James and Burial to follow after service at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Williams Memorial Church, or Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
