Nancy Lippard's Obituary
Nancy Carole Luther Lippard, 77, of Davidson, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Huntersville Oaks. Nancy was born March 16, 1935, and grew up in Statesville, NC . Her mother was the youngest of 12 children, so she had 54 first cousins to play with. When she was 13, her younger brother joined the family. As the daughter of a talented seamstress and a gifted artist, she was also creative and artistically talented. She loved sewing, crafting, needlework, and reading... "anything but yardwork," as she would like to say.
Music has always been a very big part of her life. She was a member of the barbershop choral organization, Sweet Adelines, and of an award-winning barbershop quartet, and later a comedy quartet. A gifted soprano, Nancy has also been a member of her church choir for most of her life.
She graduated from Mitchell College, and married Jesse E. Lippard (Buddy) November 30, 1957. They were married for 55 years. Before moving to Charlotte and then Davidson, they lived the Raleigh area, where Nancy worked as a Senate committee clerk in the N.C. General Assembly. After moving to Charlotte, she worked for a jewelry sales company, WSOC Radio/TV station, First Union National Bank, and then at the United Way in Charlotte for 13 years.
Nancy and Buddy moved to Davidson in 2002, where they joined Davidson United Methodist Church and have been faithful members for the past 10 years.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse Eugene "Buddy" Lippard of Davidsion; a son, Daniel Eugene Lippard and wife Lisa of North Hollywood, CA; a daughter, Amy Carole Bearden of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Randel Luther and wife Debbie of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren Meredith and John Bearden.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Davidson United Methodist Church with Dr. Joey Seymour officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Davidson United Methodist Church.
Memorials can be made to Davidson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 718, Davidson, NC 28036.
