Nancy Penninger's Obituary
Nancy Bailey “Punkin” Penninger, 74, of Concord, formerly of Charlotte, died January 20, 2013 at CMC-Northeast. She was born on April 5, 1938 in Charlotte to the late Robert and Obern Bailey.
She was a graduate of West Mecklenburg High School, class of ’57. Nancy worked for many years privately and in factories as a seamstress but her main role in life was as a homemaker, wife and mother. She took great pride in creating a loving home and in seeing her children through college and into successful careers. She enjoyed travel, music, dancing, and trying new foods but in recent years her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Nancy cherished her family and was considered by her siblings to be the family historian. Most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, Bill Penninger; daughter, Beverly Penninger and partner Alyson Young of Charlotte; son, Mark and wife Teresa of LaGrande, OR; grandchildren, Bailey and Weston; siblings, Camillia Wilson (Steve) of Charlotte, Obie Pigg (Buddy) of Lincolnton, Carol Bailey Shattuck (Wayne) of Clearwater, FL, James Bailey (Barbara) of Ocean Isle, NC, Fred Bailey (Jean) of Charlotte, Stan Bailey (friend Pam) of Charlotte; and sister-in-laws, Kerry and Sarah Bailey.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in the chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr. Huntersville, with Rev. T.C. Plexico officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, P.O. Box 17279, Baltimore, MD 21297-0495. The family is extremely grateful to this foundation for all they have done for the blind.
