Norman Burr's Obituary
Norman Henry Burr, 101 years of age, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his residence.
He was born on November 7, 1917 in Menasha, WI. He was the son of the late Edward and Bella Gmeiner Burr, and husband to late wife of 71 years, Alice King Burr. He was a WW II Veteran, Sargent in the US Army Air Corp and an active member of the Lutheran Brotherhood. He loved gardening, fishing and barbecuing with friends and family.
Survivors include his daughter, Carol Burr Stroup of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Scott Stroup, Tracy Denby, Matthew Stroup, Brent Burr, and Sarah Beckom; eight great-grandchildren, Scottie Stroup, Dalton Stroup, Hannah Denby, Taylor Denby, Gregory Tyler, Robert Stroup, Wyatt Burr and Abby Beckom. He was preceded in death by a son, David Burr and brother, Ed Burr. Special thanks to his caregivers Liz Thompson, Lisa Moss and Robin Burkhardt.
A Memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM, at A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church in Charlotte. The family will receive friends following the service in church fellowship hall. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte.
