Opal Norberg's Obituary
Opal Mae Hardister Norberg, 89, born on May 30, 1925, formerly of Cornelius, NC, went home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2014, in Concord, NC.
She joins her mother, Eliza "Ma" Hardister, her father, William Gurney, and her brother, Herbert Hardister. She leaves behind her devoted and loving husband, Willard "Bill", of 64 years, and three children, Jack (Debra) of Concord, VA, Gary (Stephanie Sue) of Bloemfontein, South Africa, and Janice (Roland) Stabley of Charlotte, NC. She is survived by eleven grandchildren; Sarah Stabley (John Vargosko), Jonathan (Diana) Norberg, Sharon (Matthew) Morken, Katherine (Fred) Campos, Devan (David) Bradeson, Danielle Norberg, Rebeccah (Jason) Shanks, Carolyn (Jered) Lundeby, Alana (Chad) Petree, James Norberg and Holly (Sumner) Andrews and fifteen great grandchildren; Holland, Ethan, Finley, Chloe, Connor, Gianna, Piper, Jack, Michael, Gary, Sawyer, Oliver, Garrett, Will and Grace.
Opal retired after 27 years of government service. She was a faithful servant at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius and an avid homemaker, but her life centered around family and serving others.
Opal's memorial service will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am on Monday, June 23, following a private graveside service. Visitation will follow.
The family would like to offer thanks to her many friends at Bethel Presbyterian and Parkwood Baptist churches, as well as Hospice of Cabarrus County, who were all there to visit and comfort her.
