Pamela Nora Myerscough's Obituary
Pamela Nora Myerscough- 11/10/1934 to 12/12/2019
Pamela Nora Myerscough (née Stopforth) of Huntersville (85), passed at Northlake House in Charlotte peacefully on Dec 12 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born in Crosby, England in 1934, where she met and married her devoted and beloved husband of sixty-three years, Brian Edward Myerscough of Huntersville. Together they emigrated from England to Kitwe, Northern Rhodesia, in 1957, before settling in South Africa. The family immigrated to the United States in 1980, and eventually, Brian and Pamela settled in Huntersville before the turn of the century.
She was a loving and devoted homemaker, wife, and mother to five children. Keeping an impeccable home, she was a consummate hostess and loved to entertain, crafting elegant gatherings and dinner parties for friends, family, and business acquaintances alike, while still making time to volunteer at every sport and activity her children participated in. While raising her children, she had a reputation as marksman, as her aim with a stiletto heel was unrivaled, and her independence and tenacity made her an unflappable and fiercely loyal matriarch. With her husband, Pamela hosted exchange students and guests from the Rotary Club and the Jaycees (of which they were ranking members).
A kind and loving soul, she spent much of her time gardening or with animals, she raised many litters of basset hounds, spent time birdwatching, and had many days at the horse stables, before settling with two pugs named Dryfuss and Smuggs, her last great loves.
After her husband’s retirement, the couple became very well-travelled, traversing the world and the country together and one of her great joys in life was sharing her adventures with those she was close to. Her favorites included Egypt, China, Turkey, Australia and Greece.
Together Pamela and Brian enjoyed being part of the Carolina Jaguar Club, where they were well-loved members. Her humor and lust for life made her a vibrant presence at high society events and small family gatherings, and she was remembered for her beautiful smile, poise, and the elegant manner in which she could command a room. Much like her favorite Sinatra ditty, she always did everything her way, and she is dancing in heaven with her lifelong friend, Patricia Gough, who preceded her in death by a few months.
She will be sorely missed by all who loved her, she is survived by her husband Brian Myerscough, her five children, Susan Beard and husband Bruce of Platteville, CO, Wendy Spann and husband Sean of Central, SC, Gary Myerscough and partner Armin Desch of Huntersville, NC, Carol Schilf and husband Kerry of Pagosa Springs, CO, Steven Myerscough and wife Connie of Dearborn, MI, five loving grandchildren (Michael and Barry Lilford of South Africa, Shanna Camlin and husband Ryan Camlin of South Carolina, Bryan Myerscough and wife Janelle Myerscough of Michigan, and Danielle Myerscough of Michigan) and six great-grandchildren (Seth, Brooklyn, Saige, Erin, Bryce, and Patric).
Pamela is also survived by several extended family members around the world.
Services are to be held privately by Pamela’s family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Hospice and Palliative Care of Lake Norman or the Humane Society of Charlotte. A special thank you to Northlake House who provided care to Pamela over the last several years of her life.
The family is being served by James Funeral Home in Huntersville.
