Parks Bowen's Obituary
Parks Bowen, 95, of Cornelius was called to heaven on May 24, 2012. He was born on November 16, 1916 to Ella Zarrad and William Bowen. Mr. Bowen and his wife were owners and operators of Bowens Beauty Nook in Charlotte for 25 years. He lived on Lake Norman until his health declined. He is a WWII Veteran and dearly loved to tell his war stories. He loved his church and family. He taught Sunday School for many years at Garr Memorial Church. He enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. In later years he attended Grace Covenant Church. His love for people was never ending. He loved nothing better than to tell jokes and make people laugh. His family thanks him for leaving them with many memories. “We will always love you.”
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 57 years Geneva and his beloved daughter-in-law Elizabeth Bowen.
He is survived by his son Don Bowen and wife Debbie of Cornelius; daughter, Ginger Childress and husband Jimmy of Cornelius; grandchildren, Holly (and husband Scott) and Fonda (and husband Kenny), Kevin (and wife Hope) and Melissa and 8 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Magnolia Gardens for their care and love.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 Sunday, May 27, 2012 at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr. Huntersville, NC with Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
