Patricia Motley's Obituary
Patricia (Pat) Sims Motley, age 82, of Huntersville, NC, passed peacefully at her home on June 16, 2022.
Pat was predeceased by her husband, Joe; her parents Thurman and Lottie Sims; her brothers; Dalton Sims (Evelyn) and Pete Sims; her sisters; Doris Overcash (Buck), Bell Canipe (Pete), and Polly Nye. She is survived by her brother, Paul Sims, sister-in-law, Sybil Sims and brother-in-law Phil Nye; daughters, Linda Scott and Pattie Wicker (John); her grandchildren, Brad Scott (Shanna), Joey Scott and Nichole Podolak (Pawel) and her great grandchildren, J. J., Teddy and Briley.
Pat was a simple woman who valued her church and her family above all else. She was born in a small house just 100 yards from Ramah Presbyterian Church; a church where she would be active her entire life. She had friends there and in the community she had known for over 70-years. Pat had a reputation as a great cook and even worked in the high school cafeteria until she retired in 2002. Her Hot Fudge Cake was famous. She loved her daughters and grandchildren dearly. She was funny; yet stern and kept her sense of humor as she raised them. She loved the Lord and her brothers and sisters. She adored her husband, Joe. She was a story-teller and a talker and Joe was a good listener. She was stubborn as a mule; a trait that served her well as her health declined. Her final wish was to take her last breath in her home, just feet from where she took her first breath…And so it was. This sweet humble woman came full circle, her struggles over and she is resting in the arms of her savior. To say she will be missed is an understatement.
Memorials can be made to Ramah Presbyterian Church 14401 Ramah Church Rd, Huntersville, NC. 28078.
The funeral service will be held at 10 AM Monday, June 20 at Ramah Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Following burial, a reception will be held in the church fellowship hall.
James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
