Patricia Sowersby Pagola's Obituary
Patricia Sowersby Pagola, age 80, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 with her family by her bedside. She was born in New Castle, PA and was the daughter of the late Francis S. Sowersby and Anne Frances Wilson Sowersby.
Pat was born in a mid-sized steel town in Western Pennsylvania where her Father was a prominent businessman. After graduating from High School and briefly attending Lake Erie College for Women Pat moved to State College, PA. There she met Ed Pagola, the love of her life who took her on an international journey to live in Monterrey, Mexico where Pat embraced her role running the family and learning a new culture. Her warm, adventurous spirit enabled Pat to embrace the Mexican lifestyle giving her a broad range of friends from all walks of life and backgrounds.
In Mexico Pat was introduced to golf which became a passion of hers for the rest of her life. This included playing in team events across Mexico, and eventually winning club championships at Seabrook Island, SC where she and Ed retired. At Seabrook Pat continued to make friends, play golf, volunteer at the Johns Island Habitat for Humanity and host family gatherings.
After almost 20 wonderful years at Seabrook Pat and Ed moved to Charlotte to be closer to family. In Charlotte Pat made many good friends, often while walking her Miniature Schnauzers. For the last few years Pat has been a resident at Ranson Ridge in Huntersville where her smile brought joy to the residents and staff. Pat will be sorely missed by all those who knew her.
Pat is survived by her children, Perry Chapman, (Arlene) of Charlotte, NC, Edward Pagola (Takako) of Aldie, VA., Mari Mitchell (Ward) of Kennesaw, GA.; six grandchildren, Kelly Kennard, Devin Chapman, Connor Chapman, Sierra Mitchell, Nikolai Mitchell and Amy Hensby; four great grandchildren, Mason, Dominic, Mya and Charleston.
