Patrick W. Casey's Obituary
Patrick Williams Casey passed away on August 13, 2016, after complications due to poor health in his later years. Just 56 years old, he will be much missed by all who knew him.
Patrick, “Pat” to many, was born to Hugh and Bettie Casey on May 3, 1960 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The youngest of five siblings, he enjoyed an active family life. Patrick grew up in Charlotte where he graduated from Myers Park High School. He then attended college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and worked in the vibrant Chapel Hill restaurant industry. He rose through the ranks of a local top restaurant, Spanky’s, over six years to become the head cook and shift manager.
He then moved to Davidson, North Carolina to join where other members of the family had moved. Resuming his education, he achieved certification in Computer Science and Accounting. He worked for years as an accountant, serving with several employers in Charlotte. Sadly, he then began to suffer from health issues which gradually degraded his ability to work. But, he continued to engage with family and friends, living out the last remaining years of his life in Davidson. He kept up with current events and sports and enjoyed engaging in conversation with anyone. Patrick had a penchant for history and food, was always quick to laugh, and had an upbeat attitude throughout his life.
The family wishes to thank the following people for their love and support of Patrick throughout this difficult time; Marcia Webster and her staff at the Davidson Housing Coalition; Dr. Wallace Tarry and Sarah and Tobin Henry.
Patrick is survived by his mother, Bettie Casey, and his four siblings, Rick Casey, Catheryn Maier (spouse, Robert Maier), Kevin Casey (spouse Judy Casey) and Madeleine Sheeran (spouse Gordan Sheeran). He also leaves behind nephews Evan Maier, Philip Maier, Nicholas Sheeran, Zach Sheeran, Sean Casey and niece Ashley Haverly.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Davidson College Presbyterian Church in the Lingle Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Davidson Housing Coalition, The American Red Cross, or the Levine Hospice House.
