Patsy Gibson Stephens' Obituary
Patsy Gibson Stephens, 89, of Iron Station, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born on October 3, 1933 in Mecklenburg County to the late Harold Gibson and Patty Orr Gibson. Pat was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville. She loved her church and church family. She enjoyed working in the kitchen with er “buddies” and really enjoyed crafting with the others for Hopewell’s annual Bazaar. She thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship. She was inducted into the Presbyterian Women’s Guild. She enjoyed going to the beach and making blankets for friends and family. The highlight of her days was always spending time with family and friends, but especially her grand babies. She enjoyed working puzzles and her television was always on Hallmark. She loved the “feel good” movies about loving one another and happy endings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years Charles Stephens, her brother John Gibson, her daughter Jane Barr, her son Stephen Barr, her granddaughter Beth Rodden and great grandson George Winchell, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory are; her son Dale Barr of Lowell, her daughter Trish Vanhoy of the home, daughter Stephanie Foster (Craig) of Ferguson, NC, her sister Louise Gibson Shaver of Waxhaw, NC, her grand children Missy Young (Mike), Brian Barr (Christine), Chuck Rodden (Chris), Randall Richardson (Stacey), Wendy Richardson (Buck), Josh Grant (Amanda), Jennifer Winchell (George), Michael Barr, Brittney Barr and Kendall Barr. She had 19 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Bayada nurses, Tish, April, Tina and to the hospice nurse Rhonda and CNA Erica. All those ladies treated her like family and with respect and dignity.
A very special thank you goes to her niece, Maria Dobbins, for her loving and compassionate comforting care. Maria took a lot of the burden off the daughters to prepare her for the next journey.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18, at 12:00 PM, at James Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at funeral home.
