Pauline Kielbasa's Obituary

Pauline Romano Kielbasa, 93, of Denver, NC, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born September 14, 1931, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Vincent and Rose Romano. Pauline was happily married for 59 years to the late Alfred “Al” Peter Kielbasa, who predeceased Pauline by 10 years.

Pauline is survived by her daughter Maryrose "M R" Kielbasa of Denver, NC, sons Vincent Kiel (partner Mary Lou) of Houston, TX, Joseph Kielbasa (wife Christy) of Denver NC, David Kielbasa (wife Charlotte) of Yardville, NJ and siblings, Claire Fisher of Orlando, FL and Vincent Romano of Honeybrook, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Pauline graduated from East Stroudsburg University in PA with a degree in teaching. Her specialty was early childhood education. She and Al founded The Kiel School, focusing on pre-school and kindergarten. Thousands of children had the benefit of the enrichment and joy of attending this school, including countless multi-generational families.

Pauline retired in 2000 but left a continuing and thriving legacy. Today, the Kiel School continues to serve the children of Hamilton Township, NJ.

As a Roman Catholic, Pauline’s devotion to her faith was demonstrated daily. She was a devoted and active participant in parish life. Pauline was an active member of Soroptimist International, a global volunteer organization dedicated to the education, health and well-being of women in need. In addition, she was a member of SERRA International, which fosters and promotes priestly and religious vocations. As a Serran, Pauline worked tirelessly to fundraise with her local chapter to provide the funds necessary for seminarians and other religious vocations.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church on March 14, 2025 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation at www.macular.org.

James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
