Peggy Mockry's Obituary
Peggy Suzanne Louis Czimer Mockry, 83, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, at Novant Huntersville Hospital in Huntersville, North Carolina, while in hospice care following a brief stay in the ICU.
Born on September 23, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Peggy was the eldest daughter of Leo and Mary McDole Louis. She graduated from Hobart, Indiana High School in 1960 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Bloomington. In 1963, she married Arthur Daniel Czimer, and they settled in Merrillville, Indiana, where they welcomed two daughters, Amy Lynne in 1970 and Mary Kathryn (“Katie/Kate”) in 1974. Peggy began her career as an English teacher at Hobart Junior High School and was an active member of P.E.O. as well as P.T.O. in both Indiana and Ohio.
In 1977, the family moved to Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and later to Clifton Park, New York, in 1983. Peggy married Michael Paul Mockry in 2002. She later taught at St. Anne’s Institute in Albany, where she spent many meaningful years before retiring. Peggy moved to Cornelius, NC in December, 2023 to be cared for by her daughters during her chronic illness.
Peggy lived a full and vibrant life. She was an avid bridge player, loved traveling, gardening, reading, golfing, and socializing. Winters in Siesta Key, Florida, were a treasured tradition for Peggy and Mike, where they enjoyed reconnecting with friends from New York, Indiana, and Ohio. Peggy was a wonderful cook, and her Christmas cookies were eagerly anticipated each year.
