PFC Tyler Lawson's Obituary
PFC Tyler Jonathan Lawson, 23, of Charlotte, died November 12, 2012 from injuries sustained at the Schofield Base in Hawaii. He was born on June 7, 1989 in Jamestown, New York to John and Linda Lawson. He attended North Mecklenburg High School and graduated from Vance High School. He also attended Central Piedmont Community College. Tyler had a quiet, loving and humble spirit and lived life with perseverance and dedication. He was excited about his opportunity to serve in the Army. He was an Infantryman in Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regimen, 25th Infantry Division, assigned as an Assistant Machine Gunner. He enjoyed time spent on the computer and being out on the lake with his family practicing his techniques on the "Air Chair".
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother Tanner of Huntersville and grandparents, David and Claire Crawford of Ashville, NY and Jack and Ethel Lawson of Charlotte. He also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and his godparents, Mary Ann and Alan Bentz of Bergen, NY. Tyler was preceded in death by his aunt Lori King, who loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in honor of Tyler's service to Wounded Warrior Project of Fayetteville, NC (www.woundedwarriorproject.org)
A visitation and reception will be held at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville on Sunday, November 25th from 4-6 P.M.
A funeral service to celebrate Tyler's life will be held at 1:00 on Monday, November 26th in the chapel of James Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens.
